NOVA Music Theatre is delighted to announce its 2027 season opener, the beloved family musical Annie, playing at The Round, Nunawading, from 12 to 21 March 2027.
Based on the classic comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the show follows a spirited young girl who escapes the clutches of the tyrannical Miss Hannigan and charms billionaire Oliver Warbucks — and all of Depression-era New York — while searching for the parents who left her behind. With a Tony Award-winning score featuring “Tomorrow,” “It’s the Hard-Knock Life” and “Easy Street,” Annie remains one of musical theatre’s most enduring crowd-pleasers.
Directed by Noel Browne, with musical direction by Peter Grant and choreography by Julie Wright, NOVA’s production brings together a cast of enthusiastic performers, including a talented ensemble of young orphans drawn from across Melbourne’s east. Annie has survived nearly fifty years because it says something we never stop needing to hear — that tomorrow is worth turning up for. Watching our young cast find that in rehearsal has been the joy of this production. They don’t perform optimism; they just have it, and audiences will feel it the moment the lights come up.
Join us at The Round this March for Annie — a story of hope, heart and the promise of tomorrow. We can’t wait to share this much-loved musical with you.
