Koyo Morita is one of Japan’s leading instrumental country guitarists, renowned for his exceptional musicianship, expressive playing and infectious passion for the acoustic guitar. Inspired by his older brother, Koyo first picked up the guitar at the age of seven and quickly developed a lifelong dedication to music. Although he completed a university degree with the intention of becoming a mathematics teacher, his passion for the guitar proved impossible to ignore. Despite the uncertainty and the objections of those around him, Koyo chose to pursue music professionally—a decision that would shape an extraordinary career.
Today, Koyo is recognised as one of Japan’s premier country fingerstyle guitarists. He is the founder of his own successful guitar academy, the author of a bestselling instructional guitar book and a respected contributor to major music publishers. In 2021, Koyo received national recognition after winning the Japanese Grand Prix in Fender’s prestigious Player Plus Studio Sessions competition. The achievement further cemented his reputation as one of Japan’s finest contemporary guitarists and introduced his music to an even wider audience. Today, his online community has grown to more than 50,000 followers, with fans drawn to his remarkable technique, authentic artistry and engaging personality.
