Shai Maestro is a leading voice in contemporary jazz piano, known for his uniquely lyrical sound, cutting-edge rhythmic imagination, sophisticated odd-meter writing and deep sense of narrative in improvisation. With multiple acclaimed releases on ECM Records, Maestro joined the celebrated lineage of pianists who have defined the label and has built a wide-ranging international career as a pianist, composer, bandleader and collaborator. His 2026 release The Guesthouse marks a pivotal new chapter in his creative journey. Building on the spirit of openness and exploration that has long characterised his music, Maestro expands beyond open-ended improvisation into more focused songwriting and dynamic production. Rooted in jazz yet reaching far beyond it, The Guesthouse draws inspiration from a broad spectrum of influences, from Rosalía to Paul Simon to John Coltrane. This October, Maestro and his trio – featuring Reuben Rogers on bass and Ofri Nehemya on drums – present music from the acclaimed new album alongside the adventurous improvisation and emotional depth that have made him one of the most compelling pianists of his generation.
