SHINE Pole Competition - The Pole Room

One night to put it all on stage.

SHINE is The Pole Room's annual pole competition, and it's nothing like what most people picture. Think a full theatre show: stage lighting, a live soundtrack and solo routines that swing from dramatic to playful to jaw-dropping. Every performer is a student from one of The Pole Room's seven Melbourne studios. Some started as complete beginners. Some have been training for years. All of them have spent months building a routine for this one stage.

Each act runs two to three minutes, and an experienced judging panel scores it on theme, musicality, movement, technique and showmanship. Hard tricks alone don't win. The acts that hold the room do.

Come because you're curious, because you know someone in the lineup, or because you want a night out that's a little different. You'll leave with a new respect for what the human body can do, and maybe the urge to try it yourself!
