Something waits under Hani's skin: a creature born from every bruise he's never let himself feel.
Tonight, it breaks out.
What if pain isn't the enemy? What if it's been protecting you all along?
Meet the BRUISE: grotesque, hilarious and strangely tender. A solo physical theatre comedy that asks whether the walls we build to survive are what keep us stuck. __
The BRUISE is the debut solo show of Hani El-Rafei (he/him), a Melbourne-based improviser, clown and comedian. Trained in physical theatre, Bouffon clowning and improv, Hani has performed at Melbourne Fringe in the sketch show The Great Resignation, and for several years as part of The Improv Conspiracy's house Harold night. He is Lebanese-Australian who weaves his experiences of migration, diaspora and colonisation into his storytelling.
